October 2011: Destruction, Planting, and the Arizona State Fair

We had a couple trees in our back yard that needed to be replaced, so Joel went outside to assess what we would need to do. He pushed a little bit on one of the trees and it came tumbling down! =) Easy on the weight lifting. Sheesh =)
Joel really enjoyed chopping that tree (and another) into pieces with a chain saw. Must be a man thing? It was fun to watch.
And here are the replacements! A lemon and an orange tree! We were grateful to have the gardening expertise of Joel's mom for this project.
Orange Tree
Lemon Tree

It should take about 3 years for them to reach full size. In the meantime, it will be fun to watch them grow. Next project, planting the winter rye grass so it's green out there again!

Kaylee and Sienna got a package from Grandma, and Kaylee had to wear her Bumble Bee dress to the fair.
They had the cutest little piggies.
 That's our beautiful animal lover.
Sienna was there too =) She was being so cuddly with me.
 anticipation...
 for the Ferris Wheel!
They had such a good time!

While Grammy was off with Sienna, we found a butterfly exhibit. The best part was getting to feed them! We soaked q-tips in nectar and lured them to us. It was cool watching them lick it up with their black tongues.

There's a really funny commercial for the Arizona State Fair where this kooky pink-haired receptionist reaches up, grabs a piece of her cotton candy hair, and eats it as she's working at her desk. Kaylee pretended to be that lady. =)

We also enjoyed watching a hypnotist show. Those always bring back funny memories of watching Joel get hypnotized.

So lemonade and Orange juice are in your future so cool! I can't wait to plant fruit trees at our new house. (Once we finally get it!)
That fair looks so fun! That looks like a fun butterfly exhibit!
