Kaylee at 2 and 1/2 years old
This little girl is the light of our lives. She is so sweet and sensitive. She can read tone so well and asks what is wrong when you are angry or sad. We call her our little nurse. She just loves taking care of people. One of her favorite things to do is feed Sissy.
| Kaylee loves to draw and do crafts. She loves to do it by herself, but will ask for help if she needs it. |
She is communicating so well. She speaks in full sentences and is able to express herself very well. She makes us smile every day. Whenever there are a lot of something she says there are 6. If she wants some candy she says, "I want 6 candies." That's how we know she REALLY likes something =) When I put her hair in pigtails or a pony tail she reaches up, feels it, and says "My pony hair!" She uses the word yesterday for anytime in the past (I woke up yesterday, meaning this morning). She also repeats anything we teach her. Daddy recently taught her "Hurry up, Mommy!" Hmmmpf! It's only cute because she is innocently repeating after Daddy. I have taught her a few words in French, Spanish, and Portuguese too. It is so sweet to hear her repeat the words (Te amo, Je t'aime, Toute de suite, etc).
She loves her sister Sienna and gives her lots of affection, but she throws in an occasional kick or hit every once in a while to test her limits. Sienna doesn't even flinch.
| It is rare for Kaylee to fall asleep on the couch. This was so sweet. She just came and snuggled up next to me during conference and fell right to sleep. |
She is still sleeping very well. She goes to bed around 8 PM, wakes up around 7AM, and takes a nap at noon usually for 2 hours. She has to sing "I Am a Child of God" every night before bed. She says "Sing Child a God song?". She also sings "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star", "The ABC song", and some random song about an octopus swimming in the water =) She also tries to sing along with theme songs from "Go Diego Go" and "The Backyardigans" from Netflix.
Kaylee is so friendly. Every time she sees a stranger she calls them her "new friend" and talks to them. She will go and ask to play with kids at the park. She is getting better at sharing her toys but it is still a challenge. She is still a bit lactose intolerant. She can eat dairy in moderation except for straight milk. We just give her soy, almond, or lactose free milk and she does well. She weighed just over 30 lbs. at her 2 year well check and she still weighs that. She has gotten taller (not sure by how much, maybe we should start marking on a doorframe =) I have a feeling it's going to take her a while to grow out of her carseat (40 lbs).
Last night we went shopping and Daddy put her up on a high surface. She gets a little nervous, but it didn't take her long to let go and get her groove on. Wherever there is music, Kaylee is dancing. It is so inspiring to see her just dance freely, with the pure joy of a child, not caring about anyone seeing or judging her.
Kaylee has the most joyful laugh. We love having her in our family and enjoy seeing her grow and learn. We love you Kaylee Marie!
